Stories need a tall canvas, which makes a direct reuse of landscape or square artwork unreliable. Typly gives that source a story-ready export while letting you choose whether to crop it or preserve it intact.

How to do it in Typly

  1. Add your original image.
  2. Select Instagram story in the Output pack.
  3. Choose Fill frame for a full-bleed result, or Keep whole image for a framed result.
  4. Create the output and check the preview before downloading.

Tip: If important copy is already baked into the image, Keep whole image is usually the safer first export.

Choose the right settings

Decide whether the crop can be vertical

A portrait source usually adapts cleanly. A landscape source may lose both sides in a full-bleed story, so set the focal point on the primary subject or switch to Keep whole image when the wider context matters.

Leave room for the viewing interface

Story apps place controls near the top and bottom. Keep essential faces, prices, and calls to action away from those edges in the source artwork; Typly’s safe-zone overlay helps you inspect the crop before export.

Common questions

Will a landscape photo still work?

Yes, but it needs a choice. Fill frame produces a strong vertical crop, while Keep whole image preserves the landscape composition inside a tall background.

Can I add a short offer line?

Yes. The offer label and detail controls add a simple high-contrast strip beneath the image area, which is useful for a short campaign message rather than a full design layout.

Make the output pack

Typly works directly in your browser. Add your images, choose the formats that matter, then create a downloadable ZIP of your selected outputs.
